Recent Grants

Strategic Grants were given to the following organizations in 2019:

Arts and Culture: Grants to nonprofits providing art programs.

  • Art Association of Oswego - Received $6,500 for its 2019 Art Outreach Program.
  • Children's Board of Oswego - Awarded $4,650 to fund a collaboration between numerous community organizations for Keepers of the Lighthouse event to be held in July.
  • CNY Community Arts Center - $19,400 will be used for completion of final Phase 2 renovations in its new building in Fulton.
  • Friends of Mexico Point Park - Received $5,000 to assist with the restoration of historic Casey's Cottage at Mexico Point Park.
  • Oswego Opera Theater - $10,000 to enhance its website and expand its marketing and social media platforms.
  • Oswego Players - Awarded $21,600 to build the capacity of its year-round Theater Arts Youth Academy.
  • Research Foundation for SUNY - $4,136 was given for for the My Home Town project in collaboration with the city of Oswego and the Oswego City School District's art teachers.

Civic Benefit: Grants to nonprofits that foster community participation and engagement.

  • Fulton Youth Soccer - Received $10,000 to make much needed repairs and upgrades to its main building facility.
  • Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce - Awarded a capacity-building grant of $20,000 to revitalize the Oswego and Fulton Farmers Markets.
  • Sunrise Rotary Club of Oswego - Received $5,000 in funding for its Leotta Park Pavilion Project. 

Economic Revitalization: Grants to organizations to promote community revitalization.

  • Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County - Received $29,200 to spearhead a child care expansion pilot program to fill the identified gaps of infant care and provision of care during non-standard hours.
  • Research Foundation for SUNY-Oswego Renaissance - Awarded $150,000 in support of its sixth year of growing the momentum of reinvestment and vibrancy in the city of Oswego's neighborhoods.

Education: Grants to schools and organizations with educational programs.

  • Blessings in a Backpack-Fulton - Received $4,500 to expand their mission to provide nutritious food on the weekend to any Fulton school-age child who needs it.
  • Camp Talooli - Awarded $100,000 for its capital campaign to transform its facilities to year-round use, beginning with its new multi-purpose building, Nakomis Lodge.
  • Fitzhugh Park School - Received $23,511 to support activities in the next phase of The Leader in Me Program.
  • H. Lee White Maritime Museum - Awarded $25,000 in support of phase 3 of a multi-year capacity building project.

Health and Human Services: Grants to nonprofits providing social and human services.

  • Friends of Oswego County Hospice - Received $10,000 to promote its 30th anniversary of work in health and human services.

Historic Preservation: Grants to nonprofits seeking to preserve and protect artifacts of historical significance.

  • Pulaski Historical Society - Received $5,000 to upgrade the museum's Military Room.
