Northwest Family YMCA in Baldwinsville hits critical fundraising phase

Baldwinsville (WSYR-TV) - The new Northwest Family YMCA in Baldwinsville is getting some big help with its final fundraising push to reach its $6 million overall goal.

The “Y” launched its ‘All In Campaign’ back in June to raise the final $1 million it needs for its fundraising efforts. In just three months it's half way there.

Now, the Shineman Foundation of Oswego is offering to match every new donation dollar for dollar up to $100,000.

On top of that, two leadership donors are stepping up to do the same up to $50,000 each.

Elizabeth Quilter, chief development officer for the Greater Syracuse YMCA, tells NewsChannel 9, "Finishing the campaign, getting everybody to come all in, even if it's a modest gift, really helps us have the strongest possible community and we're happy to be doing that."

The Northwest Family YMCA has gotten off to a strong start in just its first three months Executive Director Lisa Pachmayer says.

"There's just general excitement about it because it is something new and different in the community and really there's something here for everybody," She says.

Besides closing its fundraising campaign, the Northwest Family YMCA is still looking to hire about a hundred people to fill out its staff.
