This is a challenge grant that will enable them to finish its “storefront” spaces for student clubs, a lounge and a workout center. The goal is to increase Oswego HS “capture rate,” number of community functions, and increase attendance at student events over the next three years.

New Computers/Software Upgrades

Prepared For Life: Rural and Underserved Youth Scouting Outreach: $6,950. Funding for this project will allow The Longhouse Council to create and distribute marketing materials and program supplies to provide scouting programs to underserved rural populations in Oswego County to increase youth scouting membership.

Traveling Exhibit: Onondaga Historical Association is using funding to create a traveling exhibit for their current exhibit, "19th Century Photographer George N. Barnard: Ever a New Season," who took photographs of Oswego during the mid-19th century as well as battles during the Civil War. 

Funds will be used in the production of the documentary entitled, "You Know My Name But You Don't Know My Story," which brings real stories and experiences about those with hearing disabilities living and working in CNY into the public eye to combat ignorance and create empathy to build a cohesive community.

Funding will go towards the purchase and installation of a high ropes course, which is designed to appeal to the visual, kinesthetic, and auditory capacities of youth with particular attention being paid to the hard of hearing who attend the camp.

Starting in 2011, Say Yes' Collaborative Summer Success Academy allows recent high school graduates to get a head start on their college studies by offering 6 credits over 5 weeks. These funds will allow the program to expand to include students from a wide range of colleges in Central New York, including SUNY Oswego.

Support in implementing the Stories to Light Our Way Education program and anti-bullying simulation games to promote positive changes in behavior, improved academic performance and a better more inclusive school environment. 

Project Engage: Support of summer residential engineering program for high-ability middle school girls run by the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University. Goal of the program is to increase the number of women in the engineering talent pool with ties to Central New York.

Award to the On Point for College Math & Science Success project. The program will strategically advise two-year students to pursue Bachelor's degrees in STEM fields and strengthen the relationship of the program with SUNY Oswego, referring additional students to the University's STEM initiative.
